On the day the application period closes for a USDA emergency grain storage program the agency says more money is available for producers.
The USDA’s Farm Service Agency says the initial $20 million allocated for the Emergency Grain Storage Facility Assistance Program is not enough to meet the demand. And instead, $80 million will be awarded to eligible producers across 8 states.
Payments for the program cover 75 or 90% of eligible expenses associated with building grain storage capacity or purchasing equipment.
