Soybeans were solidly higher on fund and technical buying. Weather over the past week was mixed as rain missed some of the drier parts of the region, with more mixed precipitation this week. The USDA says 51% of the crop is called good to excellent, up 1%, with 39% blooming, compared to the five-year average of 35%, and 10% at the pod setting stage, compared to 7% on average. Longer-term forecasts are also mixed. The big month for beans is August and there’s a much smaller margin of error because of the USDA’s recent cut in planted area and lower than expected quarterly grain stocks.
