A South-Central Nebraska farmer says crops are outperforming his expectations if it missed severe weather last month.
“I don’t know if it’s going to be our best crop, but it looks really good right now.”
Ted Schrock tells Brownfield the recent 3-inch rain helped, but hail and high winds did not, damaging a fourth of his crop. “The beans were fairly destroyed. The corn will probably make half-of-a crop. It was pollinating when it happened, so it will be really hard to tell until we harvest it this fall.”
And, he says, weed and disease pressure has been limited.
