Mexico “hardening stance” on GM corn ban

The CEO of the U.S. Grains Council says Mexico is not backing off its proposed ban of genetically modified corn.

In fact, Ryan LeGrand tells Brownfield the Mexican government is looking to pass a food labeling law to prohibit the use of GM corn in tortillas.

“They’re definitely not backtracking, I think they are hardening their stance.”

He says the new proposal on tortillas is outside the current USMCA dispute consultation process.
