Iowa’s Ag Secretary is optimistic about this year’s crop based on a successful planting season.

Mike Naig tells Brownfield corn and soybean planting was significantly faster than normal.

“That’s not uniform of course, there were parts of the state that were slowed down because of some wet conditions. But as we turn the page to June, I feel really good about where we are. Of course now we shift our thinking to how are we going to do on rainfall.”

He says the latest Drought Monitor indicates worsening conditions.
