The policy director with the U.S. House Agriculture Committee says the new farm bill is being written with a goal to be completed by the end of the August break.
Josh Maxwell says there’s been a lot of feedback from agriculture on changes for the commodities title and the 10% increase in reference prices is still being considered.
“There will be a discussion on base acres. Is there an update and what does that look like?”
Maxwell says the Congressional Budget Office forecasts the cost at $24 billion and lawmakers are still looking within and outside of the committee to find the money.
