Crops get some needed moisture in eastern Iowa

An eastern Iowa farmer says crop conditions have improved after some recent timely rains.

Dave Walton raises corn, soybeans, and beef cattle near the Mississippi River. “We have had enough rain to make things recover a little bit, but we are still in a drought situation.”

He tells Brownfield his corn has started tasseling.

“Pollination will happen this week in a lot of my corn,” Walton said. “This week is supposed to be pretty decent with moderate temperatures, low humidity, and maybe a chance of rain a few days.
