There’s a heightened focus on contaminated feed after a recent outbreak of African swine fever in Russia.
Dr. Paul Sundberg with the Swine Health Information Center says the cases involve two large commercial farms.
“While that’s not necessarily unique, it is news in that the Russian authorities in trying to track that down report that contaminated feed is the most probable route of introduction of ASF into those herds.”
He tells Brownfield it’s an example of the threat feed products can pose.
