Van Gorp earned Class 3A player of the year honors for the third straight year after leading Heritage Christian to its third straight Class 3A state championship and fourth straight title overall. Both Werth and Eck earned their second straight player of the year honors. Werth was named the 2A player of the year after leading Hillsboro to its second straight state championship. Trojan coach Sandy Arnold was also named 2A coach of the year for the second straight year. Eck’s player of the year honors came in Class 1A Division I after leading Little River to its second straight title as well. Redskins coach Kim Rolfs was named coach of the year in 1A I for the second straight year as well. Lebo coach Gina Peek was named the Class 1A Division II coach of the year for the second straight year after her Wolves team won its second straight title. Lebo junior Saige Hadley was named player of the year in 1A II, following in the footsteps of former teammate Brooklyn Jones, was earned the honor last year. Two other players who led their teams to state titles were named players of the year in their respective classes – Seaman’s Maegan Mills in Class 5A and Bishop Miege’s Lauren Lopez in Class 4A. Seaman coach Tatiana Dowling joined Mills, being honors as coach of the year in 5A. Blue Valley North’s Logan Parks was named the Class 6A player of the year with the Mustangs finishing runner-up at this year’s 6A state tourney to Mill Valley. The Jaguars won their first-ever state title, earning Kylie Corneliusen coach of the year honors in 6A. McPherson’s Christy Doile was named the Class 4A coach of the year and Beloit’s Brandy Paul was named the Class 3A coach of the year.
